The national team of Romania has its debut today in the qualifying campaign for Russia 2018, with the hope of being again present at a World Cup after 20 years
The biggest world football event is starting to be seen; the qualifying rounds for the World Cup in Russia are starting, competition that will take place between June 14th, 2018 and July 15th 2018. Romania wants to be present for the 8th time at a final tournament, after the ones in 1930, 1934, 1938, 1970, 1990, 1994 and 1998! 20 years have passed since we have not been present amongst the elite of the world football, and now in our way to the group of 32 qualified teams stand Poland, Denmark, Mount Negro, Kazakhstan and Armenia.
The World Cup in Russia will take place in 11 cities, Moscow, Sankt-Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Saransk, Samara, Volgograd, Rostov, Sochi, Nijny Novgorod and Kaliningrad, and on 12 stadiums, all of them being either new or recently refurbished. The biggest arena at the final tournament will be “Luzhniki”, which will have a capacity of 81,000 seats, after its reconstruction will be finalized next year. This is where the opening match will take place and also the final.
Spartak Arena is the first stadium ready for the World Cup in 2018. This was inaugurated in September 2014 and had a total cost of 430 million dollars.
1st of December 2017 is the date when the draw for the groups of final tournament in Russia will take place
