Cluj is ready to host the UEFA Under 21 Championship – the European competition that brings together the most promising football players in Europe and has been a springboard for some of the best athletes on the continent over the years.
The matches will be played on Cluj Arena and “Dr. Constantin Rădulescu” stadiums and one of the best teams in Europe will headline the whole tournament. One of the following teams in Pot 1 will certainly play in Cluj: Spain, Portugal, Germany, and France.
Germany are the current champions, after winning the tournament in 2021, and has a total of three European Champion titles. Lukas Nmecha was the providential player at the last edition of the European Championship, as he not only scored the decider in the final against Portugal, but the goal in the 88th minute of the quarterfinal game against Denmark, which took Germany to extra time.
After becoming the top scorer of the tournament, Nmecha signed with Wolfsburg, a team for which he plays in every single match and has already scored three times in the first games of the current Bundesliga season – a perfect example of a player who shone out during the UEFA Under 21 Championship and whose career took off after that.
Portugal is another team that may play in Cluj, and some of the players who stood out at the former edition of the European Championship include Jota, Celtic’s midfielder, or Dany Mota, who plays in Serie A for AC Monza.
As for France, it is enough to mention Upamecano: he moved up by signing with Bayern Munchen after the UEFA Under 21 Championship (although he had also had exceptional performances before, as a player of RB Leipzig).
There is no secret that Spain is a true talent-making machine. Even thou they only made it to the semifinals at the last European Championship, the Spaniards displayed top-class football and players as Javi Puado or Daniel Alcon demonstrated once more that Spain would always have an extremely powerful senior national team, considering the talent and commitment shown by their U21 squad.
The fans who register on tournament’s website from 3 to 18 October (until 5:00 PM), that is, until the draw of the Final Tournament, will be able to buy #U21Euro 2023 tickets in advance, thus having the opportunity to get the best seats at the greatest games for a maximum price of 45 RON/ticket!
