The facilities of Giulesti Stadium, which was inaugurated at the end of March, will be tested by hosting its first top-level international matches.
One year ahead of the UEFA Under 21 Championship, to be hosted by Romania, in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, and by Georgia, the new stadium in Bucharest will host Romania’s Nations League matches against Finland (11 June) and Montenegro (14 June).
By having the two official matches only three days apart, all stadium facilities will be tested. It will also be a good opportunity to agree on effective working procedure with the stadium’s management team. The early testing in real-life conditions is part of the best practices for organizing major sports events.
Giulesti Stadium will host UEFA Under 21 Championship matches. The other tournament stadiums, i.e., ”Steaua”, Cluj Arena, ”Dr. Constantin Rădulescu”, have already hosted top-level international matches.
Thus, the National Team of Romania returns to Giulesti after 11 years. On this stadium, known as ”Valentin Stănescu” at that time, Romania beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3:0 in the qualifiers for the 2012 World Cup, on 3 June 2011. Also there, in 2004, Romania beat Germany 5-1 in a friendly match.
The full schedule of the Nations League matches is the following:
